CONSERVATION AND PROTECTION OF OBJECTS

Ideas evolve according to needs. One of the reasons that contributed to applying Nielaba’s resin lacquer mixture invention to stone, for instance, was a common Swiss problem – low resistance of sandstone buildings to weather conditions.

It turned out that Nielaba’s resin lacquer coating prevents the decomposition of stone and can therefore be used for protecting various objects, including monuments, in particular sandstone buildings or figures, which are highly susceptible to atmospheric conditions such as humidity, temperature fluctuations, the increasing air pollution in cities, and others.

The photograph below shows a layer of sandstone coated with Nielaba’s resin lacquer mixture and a small knife stuck in it. It illustrates plasticization of the sandstone achived after applying the coating. The sandstone becomes not only weatherproof, but also resistant to physical damage.
